My name is Joshua Helton. My wife, Carly, and I live with 2 small children off of Brentwood Point in Brentwood, TN, 37027. The couch we have was a gift received when we got married. It’s a very high priced couch, made by Ethan Allen, and over time, my kids have tracked in a good bit of grime after school. Especially my oldest son, who often plays football, baseball, and various other sports that often result in a lot of mud making it into my home! We ended up having a stain about 8 inches in diameter, a result of a baseball game last spring.
My son’s coach was making conversation with me at the game last week when he mentioned how dirty his furniture had become from his own sons! I agreed whole-heartedly, explaining that conventional cleaning would not work for my own couch; It required dry cleaning only, and I was afraid I’d ruin it by doing it myself. “Why don’t you call Safe Dry?” he asked, “It’s in the name!” He directed me to their website before the game began, and I made an online booking for the next morning through their site. It provided a lot of FAQ, but I still wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, or how it was different from steam cleaning.
Chandler arrived bright and early. I escorted him into the living area, showing him the couch and expressing my concerns for how the cleaning may impact the quality of the material. Chandler was very thorough. He carefully examined all the stain areas, and inquired about the length of time we had had them, and whether we had attempted a previous cleaning ourselves. I answered all of his questions carefully, making sure I had the right information.
He contacted his resources at the office to ensure which product would work best for our material, and how to use it to get the best results possible! He went and picked up a specific solution used for higher quality, dry-clean-only materials. He explained that it would be a lot less harsh than other chemicals, and that it would not cause any toxic reactions in any children or pets. He explained how it would lift out of the fabric instead of burying it deeper and “masking”it.
After an hour of working at it, the spots were completely gone. He was very gentle with our upholstery and was able to add a protectant to protect the integrity of the material. I was so unsure if they’d be able to pull it off, but I was pleasantly surprised! He was even able to remove the grass stains as if they’d never been there before. An hour later, my boys wanted to plop on the couch again after practice, and were pleased to find it was totally dry. However, it looks like I may have to call Safe Dry again soon if the boys keep this up!
